Second Line IT Engineer – Gillingham
£30,000 - £35,000, dependent on experience

An opportunity has arisen for a skilled and motivated Second Line IT Engineer to join a growing team based in Gillingham. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys tackling technical challenges and delivering hands-on support across a wide range of systems.
Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for handling escalations from 1st line support, resolving complex hardware, software, and network issues, and playing a key role in systems maintenance and upgrades. You’ll be comfortable working independently, collaborating with external vendors, and mentoring junior staff when needed.
What you’ll be working on:
* Escalated support tickets, diagnostics, and troubleshooting
* Server, network, and application incident management
* System upgrades, patching, and deployments
* Supporting knowledge base and documentation updates
* Mentoring 1st line engineers
* Liaising with third-party providers when required
What you’ll bring:
* At least 3 years in a 2nd line support role
* Strong knowledge of Windows OS (desktop and server), Active Directory, and Office 365 (including Azure and SharePoint)
* Confident with networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs) and Cisco Meraki infrastructure
* Experience with virtualisation platforms such as Hyper-V
* Great communication skills and a methodical, customer-focused approach
* Bonus if you’ve worked with tools like Atera, Jamf, or SimPro
* Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco) are highly regarded
Additional training and development will be provided, and you’ll be supported in growing your technical capabilities further. Occasional out-of-hours work may be required depending on business needs
