We're one of the world's biggest dairy producers. Join us as a Process Engineer at our Settle site and contribute to making food loved by millions. Settle is a 24/7 site with approximately 120 employees producing UHT and Lactose-free milk for UK and export markets.

We seek a forward-thinking individual who aims to continuously improve systems and develop themselves and others. Our engineers are problem solvers responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing machinery to create high-quality products. As a Process Engineer, you'll handle electrical, mechanical maintenance, and PLC fault finding, ensuring legal compliance and efficient plant operation within budget, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Due to site closure estimated in the second half of 2027, we offer an enhanced reward and support package, including a pro-rata retention payment, redundancy pay based on service, and relocation support for colleagues staying with Arla post-closure, or outplacement support for those who choose not to stay.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead and contribute to health, safety, and quality processes on-site.
2. Collaborate with the processing team.
3. Develop and implement equipment improvement plans to enhance efficiency and availability.
4. Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective actions.
5. Promote a culture of change and continuous improvement, embracing Lean principles.
6. Ensure legal compliance of plant equipment and enforce H&S rules.
7. Adhere to quality and hygiene procedures.
8. Complete maintenance work orders as scheduled.
9. Develop overhaul plans with the Engineering Planner.
10. Coach and mentor colleagues to develop skills and strengthen the team.
11. Manage stock withdrawals from engineering stores per SAP procedures.
12. Standardize and optimize processes including production and CIP.
13. Conduct audits to improve engineering effectiveness.


Qualifications & Skills:

* Recognized apprenticeship with HNC/HND in engineering.
* Good communication skills.
* Logical thinker with ability to follow detailed instructions.
* At least 3 years' experience in an automated process environment (food, brewing, pharma, chemical).
* Technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation plant.
* Ability to read SCADA visualizations.
* Positive, resilient attitude towards problem-solving and continuous improvement.
* Experience with CMMS (SAP Maintenance Module).
* IT literacy and financial awareness.
* Knowledge of HSE requirements.
