A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Public Health professional to take on a senior leadership role supporting the improvement of health and social outcomes across County Durham and the wider North East.
This 6-month contract role offers a day rate of around £450, working Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering statutory public health duties, shaping strategic programmes across the life course, and driving delivery of the area’s Public Health Vision and Strategic Plan. You’ll lead major initiatives to protect and enhance the health and wellbeing of local communities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the design and delivery of strategic public health programmes.
* Provide expert advice to senior officers, elected members, and health partners.
* Take responsibility for one of the core domains of public health: health improvement, health protection assurance, or healthcare quality.
* Manage programmes addressing the wider social determinants of health.
* Represent public health at partnership boards, including the Health and Wellbeing Board.
* Contribute to regional initiatives through the Integrated Care System (ICS) and North East Prevention Board.

* Experienced senior public health professional with strong leadership and system-wide collaboration skills.
* Skilled in strategic planning, partnership working, and influencing at senior levels.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Proven ability to manage complex and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
