This post is for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Geriatric Medicine. This is a full-time, fixed-term position until 5th August 2025, offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated medic to join a dynamic, expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. The role includes on-call allowance and enhancements.
Applicants must hold full GMC registration and have the right to work in the UK at the time of application. Candidates not meeting these criteria will not be shortlisted.
Main duties of the job
1. Clinical Responsibilities
* Contribute as a middle grade in the management of Geriatric wards (5A, 5B, Frailty services, Stroke unit) at Whiston/St Helens Hospitals.
* Participate in the General Medicine on-call rota as a middle grade/Registrar.
* Liaise with clinical team members and other specialties.
* Advise FY1s, CT Trainees, and ANPs on patient management.
* Develop ward management skills to prevent delays and ensure good clinical care.
1. Professional Responsibilities
* Participate in clinical audits and CPD activities.
* Maintain a training portfolio.
* Comply with Trust policies, maintain GMC registration/licensing.
1. Administrative Responsibilities
* Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping.
* Complete administrative tasks within Trust targets.
1. Teaching & Training Responsibilities
* Attend educational opportunities.
* Maintain a training portfolio.
1. Research & Audit Responsibilities
* Engage in departmental audits, research, and QIPs.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications:
* Full GMC registration at application.
* MBBS or equivalent.
* Valid ALS certificate at start.
* MRCP or equivalent.
* Specialty Certificate in Geriatric Medicine.
* Evidence of higher learning (Masters level or above).
* Experience in medical/surgical specialties and geriatrics.
* Experience as a core medical trainee or equivalent.
* Audit, research, teaching, and clinical judgment skills.
* Effective communication and ability to work under pressure.
