The role
This position involves leading the design and development of our global merchandise and riding gear collections—merging functionality, performance, and authentic brand expression. You will collaborate with product designers, external suppliers, licensing partners, and cross-functional teams to create compelling collections that resonate with riders and our broader community, strengthening their connection to Norton.
Reporting to the Global Director of Alt Revenue, this is a highly creative and commercially driven role vital to expanding customer loyalty and alternative revenue streams.
Duties/Responsibilities
Product Design & Development
* Lead the end-to-end process for branded merchandise and technical riding gear, from concept to production.
* Create detailed technical packages (tech packs) for seamless communication with suppliers and manufacturers.
* Ensure designs reflect brand identity, meet performance standards, and align with customer lifestyles.
* Collaborate with external designers and suppliers to deliver high-quality, on-brand products.
* Conduct trend research, gather customer feedback, and perform competitive benchmarking to guide design decisions.
* Work with the Global Director of Alt Revenue and the merchandiser to define product roadmaps aligned with brand moments and market needs.
* Oversee sampling, fit approval, and testing to ensure quality, safety, and durability, especially for riding gear.
* Build strong relationships with global vendors, material suppliers, and manufacturing partners.
* Support supplier selection and onboarding, ensuring ethical sourcing and quality standards.
* Coordinate with licensing and legal teams to manage branding guidelines and IP protection.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Partner with marketing, retail, aftersales, and eCommerce teams to align product development with commercial strategies.
* Work with brand and design teams to ensure merchandise reflects Norton’s visual identity and values.
* Coordinate with inventory planning and logistics for smooth product launches and replenishments.
Personal Specification
* 10+ years in apparel, merchandise, or technical gear design & development, preferably in automotive, motorcycle, sportswear, or lifestyle sectors.
* Strong portfolio demonstrating successful product development.
* Deep knowledge of materials, fit, construction, and performance standards for apparel and gear.
* Experience working with global suppliers from concept to delivery.
* Highly collaborative, balancing creativity, technical requirements, and business goals.
* Understanding of customer lifestyle trends, especially in premium automotive or motorcycle communities.
* Organized, detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
