About The Role
Pay Details: Grade 7, SCP 20-25, £32,597 - £36,363 Pro Rata £16.90 - £18.85 Per Hour
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hours per week
Main Place of Work: Civic Offices, Barry
Contract: 12 months
Description: The post-holder will support the remit and function of the inclusion team which includes LA responsibilities of and for: the Education Welfare Service (EWS), Out of school tuition (OOST), Child employment licensing and Elective Home Education (EHE). You will make an effective contribution to the Inclusion Service’s goal of ensuring that children of statutory school age are safeguarded and also take full advantage of the educational opportunities available to them and maximise their educational potential by promoting and supporting good attendance for those on role and otherwise in line with LA responsibilities and priorities. You will support school improvement by offering advice and guidance, support and challenge to a range of stakeholders.
About You
You will need:
* Experience of multi agency working around inclusion remit issues such as attendance, EHE, CME or exclusion.
* Experience of safeguarding multi agency working and meeting attendance.
* Experience of acting as advocate and champion for the education rights of children and their parents especially those from potentially vulnerable groups as identified by Estyn.
* Local Authority working or Education system working within the remit of the Inclusion team.
* Working with pupils, families and schools to promote attendance or to secure positive education outcomes and attainment.
* Working with pupils, schools and families around issues of anxiety, school phobia and disengagement.
Knowledge of:
* Understanding and awareness of the Trauma informed and ACE approaches adopted by the Local Authority and how these are embedded within the LAs continuum of support and provision.
* Up to date good working knowledge of the law and Welsh Government guidance in relation to Inclusion remit: child performance, child employment and chaperone regulation, attendance, EHE, CME, exclusion and restraint/physical intervention.
* Current knowledge of child safeguarding and how it relates to the work of the Inclusion team.
