Location: Futureworks, Manchester (with regular travel to schools and colleges across the region)

Working hours: Flexible (some evening/weekend work required for events)
Pay range: £27,037 to £29,200 (FTE) depending on experience.

Role Overview
The Schools & Colleges Outreach Officer plays a key role in driving awareness of Futureworks degree programmes and increasing student recruitment. This position focuses on developing strategic relationships with senior leaders, careers teams, and key influencers within schools and colleges. The postholder will deliver engaging talks and workshops, attend careers events, gather prospective student data, and ensure strong and sustainable recruitment pipelines.
This is a highly interactive role suited to someone confident, organised, and passionate about supporting young people in exploring pathways into creative higher education.
Key Responsibilities
Relationship Development & Stakeholder Engagement
* Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with senior leadership teams, careers leads, and progression staff across targeted schools and colleges.

* Represent Futureworks at careers fairs, HE events, assemblies, and employer engagement activities.
* Identify new opportunities for outreach or partnership within the FE and secondary education sectors.
Outreach Delivery
* Deliver engaging talks, workshops, and presentations to groups of students across a wide age range (typically Years 10–13).
* Promote Futureworks courses, student experience, and creative career routes in a dynamic and age-appropriate way.‑appropriate way.

* Recruit and brief Student Ambassadors to support outreach activity.
Recruitment & Data Capture
* Collect, manage, and maintain accurate prospective student data in line with GDPR requirements.
* Nurture leads through targeted communication, marketing activity, and conversion events.
* Contribute to the delivery of the Recruitment Strategy through school engagement, event support, and activity evaluation.
* Provide regular reports on outreach performance, engagement levels, and recruitment impact.
Marketing & Promotion
* Support the development of outreach and recruitment materials, presentations, handouts, and digital content.
* Work collaboratively with Marketing, Admissions, and Course Teams to ensure consistent and accurate messaging.
* Share insights from schools and colleges to inform marketing decisions, course promotion, and strategic planning.
General Duties
* Represent Futureworks at Open Days, UCAS fairs, and external outreach events.
* Maintain excellent knowledge of Futureworks courses, application processes, and sector developments.
* Uphold safeguarding, equality, inclusivity, and safeguarding best practice when working with young people.
Essential Criteria
Candidates must demonstrate:
* Experience working in an outreach, education, recruitment, or youth facing role.‑facing role.
* Confident delivering presentations or workshops to young people.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build trust.
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple schools, diaries, and events.
* Understanding of the UK education system and progression routes into higher education.
* Willingness to travel regularly and work flexible hours when required.
* Strong administrative accuracy and ability to maintain data records.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience in a student recruitment, career guidance, or school liaison role within FE/HE.
* A degree or equivalent industry experience.
* Experience using CRM systems to manage leads and relationships.
* Knowledge of creative industries and HE creative pathways.
Additional Information
This role involves working with individuals under 18; therefore, an Enhanced DBS check is required.
