CSW - Senior Social Worker / Advanced Practitioner Purpose of Job The post holder will be expected to work within a Resilience framework to provide an integrated social work service that responds effectively to the needs of children and their families in complex situations. The post holder must comply with statutory guidelines and obligations while practising at a higher level, which includes deputising for the line manager when necessary. The post holder will also be expected to take a lead role in a specialist area of work, adhering to departmental policies and procedures. Substantial post-qualifying experience in a statutory Children's Social Care setting is required, and it is desirable for the post holder to have a Practice Educators Award. If the post holder does not have this award, they must acquire it within their first year of employment. The post holder must be an experienced social worker who can work autonomously and demonstrate expert and effective practice in complex situations. They must also be able to assess and manage higher levels of risk and support and mentor less experienced social workers to ensure all children have the opportunity to reach their full potential. These post holders will be competent in all areas of the Knowledge and Skills Statements for Child and Family social workers in addition they will have Competency in the Knowledge and Skills Statement: Achieving Permanence. Requirements Professional qualifications / memberships Must hold registration with Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC) Education Must have a recognised professional Social Work Qualification – eg DipSW, CQSW or equivalent Must either hold a Practice Educator qualification and/or be willing to achieve this qualification within first year of employment Other Must have a satisfactory enhanced DBS outcome
