*About The Role*
Are you looking to start your career in transport and fleet management? We're offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our busy Fleet Management Office as an Apprentice Transport Support Assistant. This apprenticeship will provide experience in a dynamic office environment, supporting the delivery of essential transport services across the Council. You'll gain valuable skills and knowledge while working towards a nationally recognised qualification.
Transport Services provide Fleet Management services for the Council's fleet of 200+ vehicles including vehicle maintenance, driver training, and vehicle compliance. The service also provides a passenger transport service for children with special educational needs or disabilities, older people and adults with disabilities.
Our aims are to:-
* Ensure the Council's fleet is fit for purpose
* Provide administrative support to ensure all vehicles meet the required standard of safety and compliance
* Provide a professional support service to all customers including Council frontline services
* Maintain good value, equality and diversity
*Key Responsibilities*
* Assist with the day-to-day administration of the Councils fleet operations
* Support vehicle scheduling, maintenance planning and compliance tracking
* Maintain accurate vehicle records for inspection, servicing and fuel usage
* Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers
* Contribute to data entry, reporting and general office duties
* Learn and apply transport regulations and fleet management best practices
*What We're Looking For*
* A keen interest in customer service or public service in a busy transport administration office
* Good communication and organisational skills
* Basic IT Skills (Microsoft Office)
* Willingness to learn and work as part of a team
* A proactive attitude and attention to detail
* Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above), or willingness to work towards
The postholder will work under the Council's Flexitime Scheme, however, the role requires the office to be covered between Mon – Fri, so a rota system is in place to cover the working day.

Apprenticeship Entry Requirements:
* Be aged 16 or older at the start of the apprenticeship.
* Be a UK citizen or have proof of their right to work in the UK. If they are not a UK or EEA citizen, they must have resided in the UK for the last 3 years.
* Meet the essential qualification criteria in the role profile and be able to provide original qualification certificates at interview.
* Do not already hold a qualification at the same or higher level in the same or closely related field to the apprenticeship they are applying for. It must be unrelated in subject and content from the qualifications already held.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. Applicants to posts that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will require a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.
