Overview

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role is a Data Centre Facilities Manager responsible for managing the world's largest cloud computing infrastructure, ensuring safety, security, and availability of data centres.


Responsibilities

* Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the data centre, ensuring 24/7 availability and reliability while meeting or exceeding Health & Safety standards.
* Lead, manage and develop teams of engineers, providing technical and leadership expertise.
* Manage and coordinate all aspects of facility maintenance, including power distribution, cooling systems, fire suppression, and security.
* Continuously improve processes and procedures through innovation and simplification.
* Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors.
* Create and maintain metrics on all aspects of the data centre and use them to drive positive change.
* Implement incident, problem, change, capacity, routine inspection, preventive maintenance, and emergency response mechanisms.
* Develop strategies to optimise energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact, staying current on industry best practices.
* Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to plan and execute data centre expansion and improvement projects.
* Manage the operations budget and expenditures, coordinating with procurement teams to source and manage vendors for equipment and services.
* Exercise good judgement and decision‑making in a complex, fast‑paced environment.
* Operate and support after‑hours on‑call operations for the data centres in the region, including responding to issues and managing investigation, mitigation, and recovery.


Qualifications

* Experience in people management and team development.
* Experience in engineering work, managing large‑scale services.
* Experience maintaining SLAs through proactive issue detection and reporting.
* Experience operating a mission‑critical team or product.
* High school diploma or equivalent, bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
* Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in critical data centre operations (e.g., feeders, transformers, generators, UPS systems, chillers, pumps, air handling units).
* Experience in a management position with five or more direct reports.
* Experience working in data centres with emphasis on building and equipment operation.


Physical Requirements

* Walk jobsites in uneven terrain.
* Respond to off‑hour emergency calls.
