Individual Duties
* Pre-contract advice on construction, contract or cost aspects of building surveying work including feasibilities.
* Conduct detailed inspections and assessments of existing buildings, preparing reports and providing expert advice on maintenance, repair, and refurbishment strategies.
* Lead building surveying projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and client requirements.
* Prepare specifications, obtain tenders and prepare contract documents.
* Provide advice to clients and junior team members on effective procurement approaches.
* Contract administration, valuation and certification, including chairing meetings.
* Serve as a trusted advisor to clients – offering strategic guidance on properties, dilapidations, party wall matters and other building-related issues.
* Manage project timelines, budgets and resources effectively.
* Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices.
* Liaise with stakeholders, including clients, contractors and authorities.
* Manage and develop a small team of Building Surveyors.
* Mentor and coach new and existing graduate team members toward their professional qualifications.
* Develop and maintain client relationships contributing to growth.
Skills and Requirements
* MRICS status.
* Extensive experience in Building Surveying within construction.
* Experience delivering a wide range of project‑based work.
* Client‑facing roles with a private consultancy background.
* Proven leadership abilities with a collaborative, team‑oriented approach.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to present both in person and virtually.
* Aptitude for building professional relationships with clients and colleagues.
* Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high‑quality work under tight deadlines.
* Valid UK driving licence.
* Strong work ethic and appetite for agile working in and around the South East and Central London.
Knowledge of
* MS 365.
* JCT / NEC Contracts.
* AutoCAD / Vectorworks design software.
* UK building regulations and construction standards.
* Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
* Building Safety Act 2023.
