Our Recreation Assistants are an important lifeline in for us, ensuring our leisure sites are safe and fit for purpose, supervising the public to safeguard the enjoyment of our members and customers, and carrying out the vital role of Lifeguard for our swimming pools. We are looking for additional team members to join us on a casual basis, to pick up shifts during busy periods and for absence cover.
Hours, Pay and Benefits
Pay: £13.45 per hour (current Real Living Wage)
Hours: This is a casual position, where shifts will be published as and when they become available, for you to choose to accept (including at short notice), therefore, flexibility is required. Please confirm your availability when submitting your application

Key Experiences and Qualifications
Key Experience and Qualifications
1. Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) National Pool Lifeguard Qualification
2. Experience of working in a customer-facing environment
3. Confident communicating with and leading large groups of people
4. All shortlisted applicants will be required to undertake and pass the Newport Live / RLSS Swim Competency Test as part of the selection process**
5. First Aid at Work certificate (essential for the role but not for your application)
6. Ability to communicate in Welsh (or any other languages in addition to English)
**Successful applicants will be required to maintain the ability to pass the Test to maintain capability of the role throughout their time working with us
Role Requirements

Main responsibilities include:
7. Lifeguard duties for our swimming pools
8. Administering First Aid as / when required
9. Setting up and de-rigging equipment, ensuring it is fit for purpose before use
10. Immediately reporting any defects in venues and equipment
11. Regularly monitoring venues, both internally and externally, to prevent misuse or damage to venues and equipment
12. Assisting in delivery, storage, movement and removal of all materials and equipment, as necessary
13. Assisting the management teams with any emergency situations that may occur
