Position: Strategic Operational Manager
Reporting to: General / Accountable Manager
Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent
Primary Objective of the Role
To support the Accountable Manager in delivering strategic, operational, and financial goals across Castle Air Academy, Gloucester, and support the CTKI and FSTD Manager roles. This high-impact role acts as a strategic coordinator, analytical advisor, and operational enabler. It ensures the smooth execution of key initiatives, regulatory compliance, and commercial performance as the Academy scales.
The postholder will be a proactive, analytical individual able to anticipate needs, manage complexity, and contribute meaningfully to strategic initiatives within a dynamic aviation training environment. Building trust across stakeholders, both internal and external, is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Thinking & Commercial Acumen
Understand broader business goals, identify growth opportunities, and support strategic decision-making. Anticipate business needs, synthesize financial data, track KPIs, benchmark pricing, and contribute to business plans.
1. Aviation Industry Awareness & Regulatory Insight
Understand helicopter flight training operations and UK CAA regulations. Prepare documentation for inspections, interpret regulatory changes, maintain manuals, and liaise with regulators.
1. Project Coordination & Execution
Manage strategic and operational projects, create project plans, track milestones, and coordinate across departments.
1. Stakeholder Management & Communication
Build trusted relationships, communicate effectively, and manage sensitive communications tactfully.
1. Operational Agility & Problem Solving
Respond flexibly to changing needs, handle critical tasks, and diagnose operational gaps.
1. Information & Workflow Management
Manage communications and data flow, maintain reports, and organize digital workspaces.

Desired Qualifications & Experience
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in senior support, operations, or strategy roles.
* Ability to learn quickly in regulated or complex industries.
* Postgraduate qualifications (e.g., MSc/MBA) preferred.
* Excellent communication skills and experience with digital project management tools and financial platforms.
* Interest in aviation, education, or training sectors with willingness to deepen regulatory knowledge.
