Role Overview
As an IT Portfolio Lead, you will provide independent, insight‑led oversight across a diverse portfolio of technology projects, strengthening delivery discipline, improving forecasting, and ensuring risks are identified early and effectively managed.
Working closely with senior stakeholders, project managers and the Project Management Office, you will bring clarity, structure and continuous improvement to portfolio delivery—directly impacting business performance and strategic outcomes.
Location: Flexible, UK + Hybrid Working Arrangements. Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week. This role can be based at any of our main UK locations including Bristol, Warrington, Devonport, Leicester, Rosyth.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities
* Provide delivery assurance and governance oversight across the portfolio
* Produce high‑quality portfolio reporting and insights to support decision‑making
* Identify, assess and manage risks, issues and escalations proactively
* Support and enhance project management capability and delivery standards
* Drive alignment with the Project Management Office and continuous improvement initiatives
Essential experience
* Demonstrating extensive experience in project or programme delivery
* Applying a strong track record within portfolio or Project Management Office environments
* Managing and overseeing multiple concurrent projects in complex settings
* Identifying delivery risks early and implementing effective mitigation strategies
* Working with established delivery frameworks such as PRINCE2, Agile or hybrid models
Qualifications
* Project or programme management certification (such as PRINCE2, Agile or equivalent) is desirable
* Relevant degree or professional qualification in a related discipline is advantageous
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
