Apprentice Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician

This 25‑month funded apprenticeship will train you to gain the qualification needed to register and practice as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
The training will be hospital‑based, with weekly virtual classroom sessions starting February 2026, supported by learning and development in the hospital pharmacy.
During the course you will:
* Dispense, process prescriptions and distribute medicines for in‑patients, out‑patients, day‑patients and discharge patients.
* Prepare aseptic and cytotoxic medicines under supervision.
* Support pharmacy ward‑based activities, including assessing patients’ own medicines and taking medication histories.
* Manage stock, including ordering, receipt, storage and quality control of medicines.
* Assist in the preparation of medicinal products and maintenance of a clean environment.
* Use technical and pharmaceutical skills to ensure quality, security and value for money of medicines.
* Complete required coursework and demonstrate competence for the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians.
To apply you must have:
* Five GCSEs or equivalent at grades A*–C (or 9–4), including Mathematics, English Language and Sciences.
* GCSE equivalents gained abroad supported by a UK ENIC comparability certificate.
* Eligibility for apprenticeship funding and a commitment to complete the two‑year programme.
