Specialist SEMH Support Staff (Primary)

Primary SEMH Provision | Camden | February Start

Term-time only | £95–£120 per day
Long-term role until July 2026 (with potential extension)

A welcoming and forward-thinking primary school in Camden is seeking a Specialist SEMH Support Staff member to join their dedicated SEMH provision. This role involves delivering 1:1 or 1:2 targeted support to pupils across the primary age range, helping them to regulate emotions, access learning, and build positive relationships.

The school has a strong commitment to trauma-informed practice, emotional wellbeing, and inclusive education, offering a highly supportive environment for both pupils and staff.

The Role – Specialist SEMH Support (Primary)

As part of the school’s SEMH team, you will play a key role in creating stability and structure for children who require additional emotional and behavioural support.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Providing consistent 1:1 or 1:2 SEMH support within the specialist unit and across the school day.

* Using trauma-informed and attachment-aware approaches to promote emotional regulation and engagement.

* Supporting pupils to develop self-regulation skills through clear boundaries and predictable routines.

* Working closely with teachers, the SENCo, and external SEMH professionals to deliver individual support plans.

* Creating a calm, safe, and nurturing environment where pupils feel understood and supported.

* Tracking progress, celebrating small successes, and adapting strategies as pupils’ needs evolve.

About You

The ideal candidate will be someone who is empathetic, resilient, and confident supporting children with complex emotional needs.

We are looking for:

* Previous experience supporting children with SEMH, behavioural needs, trauma, or attachment difficulties.

* A calm and consistent approach, particularly in emotionally challenging situations.

* Strong relationship-building skills and confidence using de-escalation strategies.

* Relevant qualifications or a strong academic background.

* An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one.

* A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable children.

Why Join This School?

This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a setting where SEMH is genuinely prioritised. You will be supported by experienced staff, valued for your contribution, and given the chance to make a lasting difference to children’s wellbeing, confidence, and development.

If you’re ready to join a school that prioritises SEMH and be a key figure in a child’s journey, send your CV to Samiya at Clarus Education. Shortlisted candidates for this Specialist SEMH Support Staff (Primary) role will be contacted within 48 hours.

We are dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment.
