Job Title: EYFS Teaching Assistant - SEND Support (Full-Time)
Location: Preston, Lancashire
Start Date: October 2025
Pay Rate: 14 - 16 per hour (dependent on experience)
We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic and dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Preston starting in October. This full-time position involves working closely with a child in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the child’s learning, development and well-being throughout the school day, both in the classroom and during unstructured times.
Responsibilities
* Provide tailored one-to-one support for an SEND pupil with ASD, promoting their engagement, independence and social development.
* Assist with the planning and delivery of differentiated learning activities in line with the EYFS framework.
* Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement and review the pupil's individual support plan.
* Encourage positive behaviour and communication through consistent routines and use of supportive strategies.
* Support the child during transitions and maintain a safe, nurturing learning environment.
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience working with young children, ideally within an EYFS or SEND setting.
* Knowledge of strategies and approaches for supporting children with ASD.
* A caring, patient and proactive attitude.
* Excellent communication and teamworking skills.
* Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
