Job Overview
Building Maintenance Oversight Lead responsible for the management of building fabric, structures and associated systems, ensuring planned and reactive maintenance is delivered effectively. Responsible for compliance and safety, capital and minor works projects, strategic estate planning, technical expertise, external liaison and collaboration with Estates and Facilities colleagues.
Main Duties of the Job
* Proactively coordinate the delivery of all building‑related maintenance activities, including planned, reactive and emergency works; oversee minor projects and support services, ensuring adherence to agreed response times and schedules.
* Manage and coordinate specialist building maintenance contractors and service contracts, ensuring compliance with Trust standards and effective performance monitoring.
* Apply technical knowledge and demonstrate a forward‑looking approach to building maintenance, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation in service delivery.
* Ensure all maintenance activities are correctly coordinated, documented and recorded, maintaining accurate records to support compliance, audit requirements and continuous improvement.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good communication skills.
* Educated to HNC level in Building or Engineering.
* Relevant tradesperson or equivalent experience.
Desirable Criteria
* Further qualification in Management (e.g., IOSH, Managing Safely).
* Appropriate qualifications to attend formal training for Approved Persons appointments across NHS Health Technical Memorandums.
* Educated to degree level.
Experience
* Ability to manage multi‑professional teams across the organisation.
* Proven ability to lead and direct a team of non‑skilled, skilled and professional staff.
* Ability to organise the daily operations of a busy operational team, managing conflicting deadlines and delegating tasks where appropriate.
Desirable Experience
* Experience of computer‑based management systems.
* Supervisory experience.
Knowledge
* Knowledge of computer‑based planned and reactive maintenance systems in a large organisation.
* Knowledge of building construction and building/engineering services; awareness of current Health and Safety legislation.
