Serco has an exciting opportunity for a Project Support Officer to join our team as part of the Armed Forces Recruitment Service (AFRS). This role is offered on a hybrid basis from our Abbey Wood site in Bristol.
Working within the Programme Management Office (PMO), this role will support AFRS workstreams, ensuring they are delivered professionally and efficiently. Responsibilities include assisting the PMO with project support activities such as minute taking, action tracking, risk management, reporting, and supporting process implementation like change management.
Serco partners with the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) to provide recruitment services for the UK’s Armed Forces. The AFRS unites the Royal Navy, British Army, and Royal Air Force in a joint effort, delivering end-to-end support from candidate attraction to training. Our team combines advanced technology and expert partners to enhance the recruitment experience, driven by values of integrity and service.
Main Accountabilities:
* Support the delivery of workstreams within scope and timeline
* Assist in delivering projects and initiatives for AFRS
* Contribute local knowledge and requirements to project planning
* Provide weekly progress updates to stakeholders
* Minute meetings and inform senior stakeholders of progress, issues, and risks
* Report on project milestones, dependencies, risks, and issues
* Apply teamwork, innovation, and problem-solving skills
Requirements:
* Ability to achieve SC clearance
* Project management qualification (e.g., APM, PRINCE2, PMI) is desirable
* Experience in full lifecycle project delivery in complex environments
* Knowledge of project methodologies and governance
* Understanding of various business functions and disciplines
* Advanced MS Office skills; MS Project and Visio are desirable
* Stakeholder engagement and communication experience
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple demands
* Experience in an outsourced service environment is desirable
