We are looking for a keen and experienced service engineer, fitter, technician or mechanic to join our team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is either an experienced powered access engineer OR maybe you are an experienced car mechanic, plant fitter or similar and want to do something a bit different.
As a Workshop Service Engineer for Nationwide Platforms, you will work within a busy depot to inspect, repair, and maintain our machines, ensuring they are ready for use by our customers. Our machines are powered access machines such as booms and scissor lifts, but don’t worry—full training will be provided. If you have a great attitude, are willing to learn, and have some mechanical/electrical engineering experience, then this could be the role for you.
In return, we offer a competitive salary, life assurance (x2 contractual salary), Westfield healthcare plan, 25 days holiday, and a pension. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5:30 pm.
Responsibilities include:
1. Support the Location Service Manager in the effective running of the depot workshop within the region.
2. Carry out pre-delivery inspections (PDI) of machines at client premises and at the depot as required, conforming to manufacturer’s specifications, company policies, and regulations. Ensure no deficiencies or defects affect safe operation. Notify managers of any unsafe equipment.
3. Repair machines at the depot or on-site as needed, ensuring compliance with manufacturer’s specifications and company policies.
4. Complete planned maintenance activities, including maintaining the fleet’s appearance to corporate standards.
5. Handover machines to customers and familiarize them with safe operation procedures.
6. Act as an ambassador for the company, providing high standards of customer care and politeness. Relay customer queries to depot staff as needed.
7. Accurately complete all relevant paperwork, including engineer’s reports, off-hire, pre/delivery inspection, and service sheets.
8. Update system records on machine status changes, such as PDI completion, repairs, or statutory inspections.
About you:
* Relevant general engineering maintenance qualification, preferably NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
* Experience in diesel engineering, auto electrics, hydraulics, and fault diagnostics.
* A mature outlook with the ability to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure.
* Understanding of the importance of excellent customer service.
