Job Overview
As the Nuclear Medicine Technologist or Radiographer you will work in a team of technologists and radiographers who form part of a multidisciplinary team providing the clinical Nuclear Medicine and PET CT service at the Royal United Hospitals NHS Trust.
We provide diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including non-imaging tests.
The role includes quality assurance of equipment, ordering of radiopharmaceuticals, dispensing from multi-dose vials and administration via injection, inhalation and ingestion. The majority of imaging of patients is with SPECT-CT and sometimes includes contrast CT. The role requires regular training and auditing of skills as well as involvement with updating of documentation. Safe use and handling of radioactive materials is important.
Main Duties
* Undertake a full range of Nuclear Medicine and PET CT imaging (routine and specialised) in line with agreed departmental practice and protocols.>
* Position the patient, gamma camera and couch or other support, having due regard to safe lifting procedures and optimum imaging outcome.
* Select the appropriate mode of operation for the gamma camera and carry out the imaging procedure.
* Undertake a full range of Nuclear Medicine image processing (routine and specialised), using the imaging computer and software, in line agreed departmental practice and protocols.
* Undertake further training and development and to maintain and develop personal skills, up-to-date and effective practice and knowledge in relation to the role through continuing professional development.

Desirable Qualifications
* Registration with HCPC or Membership of RCT
Experience
Essential Experience
* Post qualification experience working in Nuclear Medicine
Desirable Experience
* Post qualification experience working with SPECT/CT or PET

Essential Skills
* Proficient in the use of a range of IT systems (eg Microsoft suite, patient software)
* Good communicator
* Able to work in pressurised environment
* Dexterity to perform injections and use pipettes
* Manual handling examples
* Emotional resilience
Desirable Skills
* Cannulation
