Are you an experienced SEND Support Assistant looking for a rewarding 1:1 role where you can genuinely make a difference? Protocol Education is recruiting skilled 1:1 Support Assistants to work in Ruislip schools, supporting pupils with complex additional needs to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
You will be supporting pupils who are non-verbal, have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and present with complex learning and behavioural needs. This role is ideal for candidates who already have hands-on experience working within specialist SEND settings and feel confident supporting pupils with high-level needs.
What You’ll Be Doing
Providing tailored 1:1 support for pupils who are non-verbal, have ASD, and complex needs
Supporting communication using visual supports, PECS, Makaton, or alternative communication strategies
Supporting emotional regulation, sensory needs, and positive behaviour strategies
Helping pupils access the curriculum through structured classroom and intervention support
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and wider support staff to implement personalised learning plans
Building strong, consistent relationships to promote engagement, trust, and progress
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience supporting children or young people with ASD, non-verbal communication needs, and complex SEND
Previous experience working in a SEND school is essential. Applications without this experience will not be considered.
Confidence using communication strategies such as PECS, visual timetables, or Makaton
A calm, patient, and resilient approach in challenging situations
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
A genuine commitment to helping children reach their full potential
