About This Opportunity
We have a great opportunity in our Engineering department to work within a small team and take responsibility for the machining and inspection of primarily one-off, fine tolerance engineering components to the correct standards and specifications.
We are looking for a self-motivated, problem solver with a can-do attitude. You will be able to manage multiple projects often with competing demands, whilst working in a multi-disciplinary approach across various machine platforms. Whilst you will not have line management responsibilities you will be responsible for ensuring junior staff members work safely, having time served experience and knowledge. This role may also include machine build projects and occasional assembly.
You will ensure that your practical skills are safely applied on a wide variety of equipment.
Main Responsibilities
Receiving and interpreting engineering drawings and sketches to manufacture engineering components
Writing CNC machining programs on a wide range of equipment
Manufacture and inspection of high end, primarily one-off engineering components
Training and mentoring of apprentices and less skilled members of staff
Development of new machine tools and machining techniques- this stems from large investment within the company and our manufacturing facility
Maintain high area standards and seek to improve using knowledge of 5S, or similar strategies
Communicating and negotiating with internal customers
Handling work requests and assisting the team quoting for both internal and external sub-contract of parts
Required Education And Qualifications
Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship to City and Guilds or NVQ level 3
Required Knowledge And Experience
CNC programming experience, CNC milling/turning/grinding
Experience working within a manufacturing development environment
Required Skills And Competencies
Computer proficiency (MS Word/Excel)
Good verbal and written communication
Good problem-solving ability and a real can-do attitude
Ability to manage own workload within required timescales
Beneficial Education, Experience, Skills (not Required)
HNC or equivalent
EDM/Wire erosion experience
Experience within a prototype environment/low volume, high tolerance
