Job description
Prospero Teaching are looking for a dedicated professional to provide consistent, supportive, and engaging mentorship to a young person (aged 12) who has been disengaged from formal education. The mentor will help build the young person’s confidence, foster a positive adult relationship, and encourage participation in activities aligned with their interests-particularly animal care and art.
As a Mentor, you will:
1. Build a trusting and respectful relationship with the young person.
2. Plan and participate in activities that align with their interests (, visiting animal shelters, drawing sessions, nature walks).
3. Encourage self-expression through creative and hands
About you:
Experience working with children or young people, especially those with additional needs or who are disengaged from education. Passion for animal care and/or art. Strong communication and empathy skills. Ability to commit to regular weekly sessions. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
4. Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young people Background in Youth Work, UK schools, Mentoring or other related roles. Experience of working with learners with SEN
To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
5. Hold right to work in the UK
6. Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
7. Provide references upon request
8. Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
