As Shop Manager you will use your retail experience to drive business, push sales and achieve targets. You will lead your team in delivering outstanding customer service to donors and customers, manage stock processes, act as a brand ambassador, and support in‑store campaigns.
Responsibilities
* Drive business, push sales and achieve targets.
* Lead the volunteer team to deliver great customer service.
* Work with the local community to generate donated stock.
* Recruit, train, and retain volunteers.
* Set high standards of merchandising and housekeeping, ensuring health and safety.
* Manage effective stock processes and keep the shop well merchandised with fresh seasonal stock.
* Act as a brand ambassador, supporting Sue Ryder in‑store campaigns and national fundraising initiatives.
* Operate the Epos system and handle financial and IT administration tasks.
Qualifications
* Commercial awareness to deliver sales and meet deadlines.
* Proven team leadership skills, especially with a large volunteer team.
* Positive can‑do attitude and enjoyment of engaging with people.
* Good understanding of financial and IT administration.
* Customer service experience.
* People management experience (reviews/1:1/volunteer recruitment/team meetings).
* KPI and target experience.
* Strong IT skills (admin, email, instant messaging, video calls).
* Organisational skills.
* Experience working alone.
Desirable Criteria
* High‑street retail or charity retail managerial experience.
* Health and safety knowledge.
* Minimal Microsoft Office package or equivalent.
* High‑street, leisure or hospitality background.
* Merchandising/stock rotation and experience as a Disability Confident employer.
