Birmingham City Council is one of the UK’s largest and most dynamic local authorities,mitted to maintaining high standards across the city’s licensed premises. The council is currently seeking 2–3 Licensing Enforcement Officers to help clear a growing backlog of cases and ensurepliance with licensing regulations.
Your new role
As a Licensing Enforcement Officer, you will be responsible for visiting premises such as shops, bars, and other venues that sell alcohol, where licenses have expired. Your role will involve issuing fines, assisting with the renewal of licenses, and collecting payments. You will be assigned a specific patch and work as part of a small team, travelling together by car to conduct inspections and enforcement visits.You will be provided with the necessary forms toplete during your visits, which will then be returned to the office for processing and system entry. This is a field-based role with a strong team dynamic, offering a hands-on opportunity to make a direct impact on public safety andpliance in Birmingham.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you should be confident, have a strong backbone to effectively deal with conflict, detail-oriented, andfortable engaging with business owners and members of the public. Previous experience in enforcement is essential, and you will be trained on the relevant legislation. A proactive attitude and the ability to work well in a team are key.
