Contract Offered
Full-time, permanent
Working Hours / Shifts
8.40am to 5.20pm, Monday to Friday, however some flexibility will be required.
What does this role involve?
Responsibilities include:
* Routine use of the RCLS Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
* Performance of various analytical procedures including manual screening and automated methods covering a wide variety of clinical diagnostic tests.
* Preparation and handling of samples and diagnostic reagents and operation of various automated analytical systems.
* Accurate maintenance of analytical records, preparation of validation plans, review of analytical data and report writing to gather, evaluate and conclude a result.
* Routine maintenance and calibration of analytical instrumentation.
* Perform troubleshooting on technical issues.
* Review and planning of validation for proposed processes – new, developed or existing – related to clinical diagnostic testing.
* Assist with the training of staff.
* Work to timelines / deadlines as guided by the Technical Manager or Technical Team Leader.
* Detailed writing of reports demonstrating rigorous analysis of results.
* Preparation and presentation of R&D Design Reviews to Senior Management.
* Meeting of targets on established validation projects.
* Familiarization and keeping up to date with current methods and technologies for a given project.
Essential criteria
* Qualified to at least bachelor’s level in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Immunology or a Life Science subject.
* HCPC Biomedical Scientist registration.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Experience in validation procedures and relevant project management skills.
* Experience in analysis and documentation of large data sets.
* Experience in the operation of clinical chemistry, immunoassay or haematology instrumentation.
Desirable
* Experience in training staff members.
* Experience in the use of project management software.
