Design Engineer
Contek are recruiting for a Design Engineer to join an established and ever growing engineering company based in Dudley.
This company have been in business for many years now and are growing their Design team. You will be joining an experienced group of Engineers where you can collaborate and provide innovative solutions for customer requirements.
Responsibilities:
* Liaising with customers and sales to ensure full clarity on the specification needed for their requirements.
* Generate, check and release all spec and design information, production methods, programs for the presses and finished to support procurement, production and handling of products.
* Operate and increase your proficiency with the companies CAD/CAM systems to speed up the release of customer orders and standard instructions.
* Optimise the use of materials and reduce weld processes where practicable.
* Generate and define production processes and facilitate continuous improvement.
* Assist production team leaders to generate/update processes, training and advice on quality self-checking during manufacture (e.g. check sheets).
* Work with production team leaders and their team members to identify design and specification issues and ensure that their team members identify design and specification issues and ensure that they are speedily rectified.
* Make recommendations on the control of product costs “make or buy” decisions, value engineering, manufacturing processes and safety.
* Take responsibility for delivering the objectives of specific programmes (e.g. standardisation) delegated to you.
* Ensure that relevant design standards are maintained and that work represents progressional good practice.
* Take a critical overview of the parameters and standards (expert systems) built into the automated design and manufacturing systems to ensure they are relevant, accurate and reflect latest innovation.
* Liaise with the Preparation Area team and generally keep yourself informed on the capabilities of machine tools, materials and tooling and on innovations in production techniques.
Skills Required:
* HND or degree in Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering preferred
* Autodesk AutoCad
* Radan
* Excellent communication skills
* Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
