The opportunity:
You will oversee the organisation’s IT strategy, architecture, operations, projects, and security. This strategic and hands-on leadership role ensures the smooth functioning of IT systems, aligns IT initiatives with business objectives, and drives digital transformation to enhance operational efficiency and growth.
The Head of IT will collaborate with cross-functional teams, senior leadership, and third-party vendors to deliver measurable business value. You will also define the long-term business roadmap, create contingency plans, and ensure IT development and architecture meet key performance criteria.
Location & Hours:
The role is permanent, full-time (40 hours), based at our HQ in Henham (CM22 6AA), a rural location with onsite lunch and ample parking. We offer hybrid working, allowing 1 day working from home per week when possible.
What you will be doing:
* Develop and implement an IT strategy aligned with business goals to drive growth, efficiency, and cost optimisation. Advise senior leadership on IT investments that deliver value. Lead and develop the IT team, fostering a high-performance culture supporting collaboration and innovation.
* Oversee daily IT operations, ensuring performance, security, and user satisfaction. Manage IT infrastructure, networks, and cloud environments for resilience and scalability. Measure team performance against KPIs.
* Lead IT projects, including ERP upgrades, automation initiatives, and new technology implementations. Define project scope, budgets, and timelines, ensuring measurable outcomes. Collaborate with business units to identify technology opportunities.
* Ensure IT security policies and procedures protect against cyber threats and comply with regulations. Oversee risk management and business continuity planning. Work with vendors to ensure cybersecurity practices are effective.
* Manage IT procurement, negotiate vendor contracts, and ensure technology solutions meet business needs.
* Establish IT performance metrics and report regularly on system efficiency, service levels, and project outcomes. Drive process improvements for operational efficiency and cost reduction.
What you will need:
Our ideal candidate will have a balance of technical expertise and leadership skills to drive innovation, process improvement, and stakeholder management:
* Proven IT leadership, with experience leading teams, managing projects, and driving digital transformation that supports business outcomes, including cost efficiencies and process optimisation.
* Experience in application development, ERP systems, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, and IT governance.
* Experience working in a B2B environment is preferred.
* Success in leading teams towards ambitious performance goals.
Technical Knowledge and Proficiency:
* Proficiency with tools like MS Project, Asana, or similar for project management.
* Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, Oracle) and other business applications.
* Familiarity with automation tools and process mapping software (e.g., MS Visio, Power Automate).
* Understanding of cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and infrastructure.
* Knowledge of change management practices.
