Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Qualification in Counselling/Psychotherapy at or above diploma level (Level 4) or equivalent
2. Registered or Accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)
Experience
Essential criteria
3. Experience of working within a time-limited setting
4. Experience of working with individuals in difficult and distressing circumstances
5. Experience of conducting assessments of suicide and self-harm risk, and developing risk management plans
Desirable criteria
6. Experience of working in NHS setting
Technical Skills and Competencies
Essential criteria
7. Good interpersonal skills
8. Ability to set boundaries in terms of limits of expertise and time limitations
9. Ability to make use of clinical supervision
10. Keyboard skills Computer literate and confidence in using IT (e.g. Microsoft Office, electronic patient records system)
Desirable criteria
11. Presentation skills
Knowledge
Essential criteria
12. Knowledge of work-related stress and burnout, and the impact it can have on mental health
13. Understanding of anxiety, depression and trauma, and how they may present
Desirable criteria
14. Familiarity with mental health issues in the field of staff wellbeing and counselling
15. Knowledge of ICD-11 diagnostic features for depressive disorders, generalized anxiety disorder, disorders specifically associated with stress, and burnout
