The post is for Rosebud Centre (30 hours a week). The Peer Support Practitioner is a highly valued member of the Rehab multi-disciplinary team and will provide formalised peer support and practical assistance to service users to promote choice, work with them to regain control over their lives, and help identify aspects of life that give meaning, hope, value and purpose. Each individuals recovery is a distinctive and deeply personal process.</p><h3>Main duties of the job</h3><ul><li>Build strong, supportive relationships with service users.</li><li>Help service users set realistic and positive goals and empower them to live fuller, more fulfilling lives.</li><li>Support the group programme by sharing your own experiences.</li><li>Develop the service and help users get involved in this process.</li><li>Complete a range of administrative tasks.</li><li>Liaise widely with other staff and services within the community.</li><li>Promote awareness of mental health and reduce stigma.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications and experience</h3><ul><li>Background of personally recovering from mental health issues and willingness to share your life experiences.</li><li>Experience of using mental health services.</li><li>Good verbal and written communication skills.</li><li>BTec/City & Guilds/NVQ level 2 in health and social care or equivalent experience.</li><li>Lived experience of mental health problems.</li><li>Experience of working or volunteering with people with mental health problems.</li><li>Ideally experience in "telling your story" or training others.</li><li>Ability to use RiO electronic records system, or willingness to undergo training.</li></ul><h3>Person Specification</h3><p>The post will also involve contributing to the development of the Peer Support Practitioner role, particularly within mental health services.</p><h3>Disclosure and Barring Service Check</h3><p>This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. A submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) is required to check for any previous criminal convictions.</p><h3>Salary</h3><p>£25,760 to £27,476 a year, pro rata.</p></div>
