Job Description
The Role: To manage a team of Client managers and executives within the Northern region, reporting to the Head of Commercial Client Services, South, ensuring excellent client outcomes are delivered and minimising attrition, whilst protecting risk of credit loss. Team portfolio will consist of ABL Clients across a broad range of sectors, with facilities comprising a mix of invoice discounting / factoring, cash-flow, inventory and property elements, up to £3m.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage a team of relationship managers to deliver strong risk management and a high touch service model.
2. Lead the team aligned to our Strategic Priorities – Protect (maintain the key strengths of our business model), Grow (maximise opportunities) and Sustain (secure the long-term future of our business, customers and the world we operate in).
3. Support a strong culture combining expertise, service and relationships with teamwork, integrity and prudence. This includes supporting continual development of team members and fostering a collaborative environment where employees can share ideas.
4. Ensure our control environment is consistent across the team and subject to continued review and enhancement.
5. Assist with the implementation of commercial strategy and initiatives aligned with delivering strong and safe growth, alongside budgets and associated client stock, loan book, margin and overhead objectives.
6. Maintain and enhance client relationships/networks, ensuring sufficient coverage considering new business opportunities, geography, and expertise.
7. Oversee commercial client facilities in accordance with company policies and credit standards.
8. Help ensure an effective post Credit Committee / Switch On process.
9. Collaborate with the Head of Client Services - Operations to maintain standards of performance.
Standards of Performance:
* Maintain bad debt provisions within the annual budget, ensuring risk-reducing actions are prioritized and completed, with prompt escalation of risk issues.
* Manage collateral performance and reporting within the team.
* Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
* Source new business referrals from existing clients.
* Ensure team KPIs related to annual reviews and client visits are met.
* Achieve additional income targets as per annual budget.
* Ensure an effective post Credit Committee / Switch On process.
Risk & Compliance:
Ensure adherence to all Governance and Compliance requirements, including timely reporting and reviews mandated by Regulatory Bodies.
Person Specification:
Essential
* Ability to build effective, lasting relationships with clients and internal stakeholders, including operations, credit, and audit functions.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills to achieve satisfactory outcomes for all parties.
* Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, maintaining client relationships and achieving zero attrition.
* Robust financial analysis skills and experience managing deteriorating credit profiles in an ABL environment.
* Understanding of book debts as core collateral for ABL facilities, with awareness of deterioration signs and mitigation responses.
* Effective mentoring skills to drive team consistency and morale.
* Proven track record managing people in an ABL or banking/lending environment.
Desirable
* Experience in underwriting new and existing business.
Qualifications:
* ABFA/UK Finance qualifications.
* Banking, credit, or accountancy qualifications.
