Offer description

Why Arup?

Arup's purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

Unleash your creativity and take your skills to new heights while working on inspiring projects. At Arup, we believe in empowering our people to produce work that sets the bar for quality. Our passionate team shares our values, and that's why they love coming to work every day.

The Opportunity

Arup is entering an exciting period of growth and transformation — and we’re looking for a strategic, forward‑thinking Senior HR Business Partner (on a 1 Year Fixed Term Contract, Maternity Cover) to help shape what comes next. This high‑impact role supports Portfolio Leaders across UKIMEA and Europe, as well as senior leaders and national groups within UKIMEA. You’ll also represent the People Team on the UKIMEA Strategy Committee, ensuring people priorities are at the heart of key business decisions.

As part of the UKIMEA Business Partnering team, you’ll lead a small group of HR Business Partners and work closely with global Centres of Excellence to deliver large‑scale change programmes across two regions. You’ll drive strategic workforce planning, turning business strategy into actionable people plans that build capability, close talent gaps, and prepare the organisation for future growth.

We’re looking for a trusted advisor who brings insight, challenge, and creativity — someone who can navigate complexity, influence senior stakeholders, and help cultivate a positive, inclusive and high‑performing culture.

Is this role right for you?

You’re likely to thrive if you:

1. Have operated as a senior HR Business Partner within a complex, matrixed organisation
2. Excel at strategic workforce planning and translating strategy into real, practical action
3. Bring curiosity, adaptability and a growth mindset — especially during change
4. Are confident using people and business data to influence decisions and provide evidence‑based challenge
5. Solve problems creatively and take ownership for delivering impact
6. Build strong, trusted relationships with senior leaders and can respectfully challenge resistance
7. Have experience in professional services or similarly complex environments
8. Hold a relevant HR qualification or equivalent experience
