Overview
Quality Control Inspector - Machine shop, Late Shift – permanent role based in Havant. The position supports the machine shop that operates across 5 cells producing seal and bearings for the marine sector and various Navies around the globe. Work hours are 14:30 – 22:30, Monday to Thursday, and 12:30 – 20:00 on Friday with a 30-minute lunch break.
What You Will Be Doing
Product inspection – Responsible for inspecting components at various stages through the production process, including final inspection. Responsibilities include raising non-conformances, performing extra duties or special projects, reading and interpreting technical drawings and related documentation (e.g., Purchase Orders, Concessions), communicating with the Quality Assurance department and/or management in quality control situations, releasing parts to stores, assembly and packaging areas, and collating/recording traceability details to assist QA with MDR Quality Packs & Class Visits. Maintain a safe working environment and high standard of housekeeping while supporting OTIF (On Time In Full). Be flexible to carry out a wide variety of duties as part of the Logistics Team and work with other ops teams to meet OTIF targets.
* Possess general knowledge of Quality System Regulations and International Standards.
* Use inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, thread gauges) and check dimensions/processes against drawings/blueprints/specifications.
* Work with Quality Control Inspectors, Project Engineering, Quality Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure compliance with process documents.
* Ensure in-process inspections are completed per engineering specifications.
* Perform mechanical, visual, and dimensional inspections using inspection hand tools.
* Possibly perform CMM programming and inspection (or be trained).
* Communicate quality issues with Supply Quality Assurance Engineer.
* Attach correct labeling to storage cartons/pallets, store product in warehouse, and update inventory transactions.
* Work from Engineering drawings for visual dimensional inspection of purchased or manufactured products using measuring instruments.
* Other duties as required and proactive actions to meet OTIF.
* Maintain safety and continuous improvement in processes and procedures.
To Be Successful, You Should Have
* Mechanical and electrical component inspection
* Basic mechanical inspection tools
* Dimensional inspection hand tools
* Knowledge of FDA, GMP, ISO 13485
* Experience in a production/engineering environment
* Health & Safety environment procedures
* Mechanical/assembly aptitude and ability to read drawings
* Minimum 5 years mechanical inspection experience (desirable)
* Effective communication with co-workers
* Flexibility to work across Logistics Operations teams
* College-level education or mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent manufacturing experience
* Proficiency with Microsoft/MRP systems and SAP
