This is a fixed term locum post to start as soon as possible and ending 31/03/2026. The post is based atLister Hospital in Stevenage and comprises 8.5 - 10 core programmed activities (PAs) and no on call
commitment. The scheduled activities include weekend operating.
Our gynaecology services include a wide range of gynaecology specialist services including benigngynaecology, colposcopy, hysteroscopy, fertility, emergency gynaecology, early pregnancy care, recurrentmiscarriage, endometriosis, gynae oncology, robotic surgery and urogynecology.
The Trust has a comprehensive programme of leadership mentoring available for newly qualifiedConsultants. Opportunities are also available to other Consultant appointees to play an active part in the
programme.
Main duties of the job
* To provide broad clinical expertise in out patient Gynaecology and benigngynaecology surgery.
* To support the department in achieving activity and performance standards.
* To support maintenance of high quality patient centred care
* To support MDT working including the operational team and to the Trustvalues

Person specification
Qualifications / Training
* Entry on GMC Specialist Register or, be within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or, provide GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register
* MD or Ph.D./ Postgraduate academic degree
Previous Experience
* Broad gynaecology experience both out patient and operating
* Experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues
* Ability to offer and be accountable for full and independent expert diagnostic opinion
* Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice
* Published papers and original work in peer reviewed journals
* Demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles of audit, evidencebased practice, and clinical quality improvement initiatives
* Demonstrable experience and participation in research
Skills
* Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and the learning from errors.
* Ability to work in a teams oriented environment and engage in MDT working
* Evidence of leadership skills and an ability to influence and motivate others
