About the Role
We are recruiting a compassionate and experienced Cook / Chef to join a warm and welcoming Premium Supported Independent Living residential retirement home setting in Henleaze, Bristol. Youll be responsible for preparing freshly cooked, nutritious meals for up to 25 independent older residents who dine together in a communal setting.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook daily two-course lunches and light evening meals for residents.
Work with the House Manager to plan menus that are nutritious, appealing, budget-conscious and meet dietary needs.
Help to order food, ingredients and cleaning supplies weekly in consultation with the House Manager.
Ensure food quality, taste and presentation meet high standards before serving.
Maintain stock control, checking and storing deliveries correctly.
Maintain full compliance with food safety, hygiene, fire and health & safety procedures.
Keep the kitchen, storage areas and service areas clean, tidy and well-organised.
Complete all mandatory and role-specific training.
Hours & Rota 67 hours across a 2-week rota within the hours of 8 AM and 6.30 PM
Equivalent of 33.3 hours per week
Includes daytime and some early evening shifts.
Sample rota: Week 1: Wed 8:0018:30, Thu 8:0018:30, Sun 8:0015:30 Week 2: Mon 8:0018:30, Tue 8:0018:30, Sat 8:0018:00, Sun 8:0015:30
Salary & Benefits
£15.00 per hour, paid monthly via BACS.
Pension scheme: 4% employee contribution + 4% employer contribution.
Holiday entitlement: Pro-rata based on 20 days + 8 Bank Holidays (full-time equivalent).
Person Specification What Were Looking For
Food Hygiene certificate (or willingness to complete).
Level 3 catering qualification or equivalent (or willingness to complete).
Experience preparing fresh, home-cooked mealsideally within a care home, school, education, community, or similar setting.
A caring, compassionate individual who understands the needs of older people.
Good communication skills and the ability to engage positively with residents.
Strong team player with a proactive, supportive approach.
Basic IT skills for simple record-keeping.
Ability to read, write and work with numbers confidently.
