We’re Hiring: Head of Project Delivery & Monitoring Salary: £36,300–£44,600 (depending on experience & skills) Working hours: Full-time or part-time considered Deadline for applications: Midday, Monday 12th January 2026 Reports to: CEO We are looking for a Head of Project Delivery & Monitoring to lead the practical work that protects and restores the River Dee. In this senior role, you will oversee the design, coordination and delivery of our conservation projects, working closely with farmers, landowners, communities and partner organisations to improve the health of this nationally important river. You will manage and support our project delivery team, ensuring our work is well-planned, monitored and achieves the outcomes we set. You will also lead the development of monitoring programmes that show the impact of our interventions over time. This is a strategic leadership role and acts as the deputy within the Welsh Dee Trust. You will contribute to organisation-wide planning and decision-making and act on behalf of the CEO during planned absences, providing continuity and leadership across the charity. About Us – Welsh Dee Trust The Welsh Dee Trust is a small, specialist environmental charity with the overall objective of a river Dee free of pollution and full of wildlife. The Dee is one of the UK’s most biodiverse rivers and a vital source of drinking water, wildlife habitat and cultural identity for the communities it flows through. We deliver practical, evidence-based projects that tackle pollution, restore habitats, support sustainable land management and involve local people in caring for their river. Our work is rooted in partnership, and we collaborate closely with farmers, landowners, communities, government agencies and other environmental organisations. We are a growing organisation with a clear long-term vision. Our current strategy sets ambitious goals for habitat restoration, water quality improvements and community involvement, and we are building the capacity to deliver this work at scale. In 2026 we will begin developing our next organisational strategy, and this role will have the opportunity to contribute directly to that process. Find out more about our strategy: www.welshdeetrust.com/strategy-and-impact Key Responsibilities Lead the successful planning, execution, and delivery of all Welsh Dee Trust projects within our 3 delivery programmes Fulfil the role of safety manager for the trust, ensuring health and safety policies are correct and implemented. Manage project staff, consultants, and delivery partners Oversee project budgets Ensure delivery of key targets from our current five-year strategy Secure and manage funding to support our work Foster relationships with key partners, including NRW, Environment Agency, water companies, landowners, and government bodies Promote innovation and continuous improvement in project delivery Undertake the role of acting CEO, undertaking day-to-day operations in the absence of the current CEO. What We’re Looking For Essential: Experience in designing and delivering environmental projects Strong project management skills, including budgeting, procurement, and risk management Experience in line managing staff, including supporting professional development. Excellent communication skills—including public speaking and stakeholder engagement A solid understanding of an area of river ecosystems e.g. hydro geomorphology, water quality testing, fisheries, community engagement, water company treatment etc. Desirable: Welsh language skills GIS experience Knowledge of CDM (Construction, Design & Management) Regulations What We Offer Salary in the range of £36,300–£44,600, depending on experience 25 days holiday bank holidays Generous pension scheme (5% employee, 9% employer contributions) Friendly, supportive team environment Based in Llangollen Opportunity to shape the next phase of an ambitious conservation charity If you are interested in the role and have questions please feel free to reach out to Peter@welshdeetrust.com
