Location: Dursley, Gloucestershire | Hours: 37 hours per week Monday to Friday | Start date: Immediate | Pay: £36,000pa - £38,000pa pro rata | Permanent
Our client is seeking an Accounts Department Manager to support the Finance Director by leading daily accounting operations and managing the accounts team. You will collaborate with internal teams and the global network to resolve queries and ensure the accounts department runs smoothly. The role requires attention to detail, extensive experience in managing a variety of accounts, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritise workloads and produce highly accurate work.

Responsibilities
* Team Leadership
o Day-to-day guidance and mentoring to the Accounts teams
o A proactive “Can Do” attitude
* Operational Management
o Manage all financial aspects within the UK, French & Irish companies
o Multi-currency bank reconciliations across 3 companies
o Accurate and timely recording of financial transactions to trial balance level
o Timely collection of debtor balances
* Financial Reporting
o Production of accurate monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reports
o Preparation of monthly VAT, VIES and EU reporting
o Assist Finance Director with year-end preparation, including liaising with UK, French & Irish Accounting firms
o Create journals, prepayments and accruals where required
* Budgets & Forecasting
o Management of cashflow reporting
o Assist Finance Director with annual budgets
* Compliance & Controls
o Supporting continuous improvement across the finance function by driving best practices and streamlining processes
o Develop and enforce internal controls and checklists
o Create and monitor KPIs
* Legislation
o You will also be expected to stay up to date on any relevant legislation or global developments.
Education and Training
* Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field
* Full qualification from a professional body such as ACCA, ICAEW or ACA
Work Experience
* 5-10 years’ experience in an accounting environment, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory/management role
* Previous experience using SAGE
Knowledge and Skills

* High accuracy and attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills
* Strong IT skills and use of Microsoft suite (including advanced Excel)
* Up-to-date working knowledge of Sage 200 Accounts
* Knowledge of the market and industry
* Strong motivational skills
* Experience dealing with international suppliers
* Analytical mindset with ability to interpret complex financial data
* Ability to operate at a consistent pace and manage timely situations under pressure
* Manage multiple project deadlines with high accuracy
Desirable
* Ability to speak French would be an advantage
* Knowledge of Import / Export procedures
* Knowledge of foreign accounting standards
* Foreign exchange transactions

Our client is seasonal, so in the summer period you work 40 hours and in the winter period 34 hours. The average is 37 hours per week, and pay is based on this average.
