Job Description
We are seeking a Lead Engineer to direct a multidisciplinary engineering team to:
1. Identify the feasibility of approaches
2. Develop outline requirement specifications
3. Determine TRL levels and develop associated plans for viable solutions
4. Prepare a plan for the delivery of the appraisal and selection phase of projects, ensuring delivery within agreed time, cost, and quality parameters
5. Lead multidisciplinary teams responsible for estimating, scheduling, forecasting, and producing design deliverables
6. Manage the DSA teams in producing deliverables
7. Develop safety cases, participate in HAZOPs, support safety assessments, review ES, and produce substantiation documentation
8. Identify additional resource needs to ensure all deliverables are produced and checked according to the project schedule
9. Coordinate with other Project Discipline leads
10. Engage with site clients and stakeholders
Requirements include:
* Background in engineering with a proven record of successful project delivery and leadership of technical teams
* Extensive experience in an engineering design environment with strong technical expertise
* Recent experience within regulated and quality-assured systems (preferably nuclear), where professional engineering judgment is essential
* Knowledge of laws, regulations, and standards relevant to the nuclear industry (or equivalent experience in other sectors):
o Health & Safety at Work Act
o The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
o Safety of Machinery, CDM, LOLER, Pressure Systems, DSEAR, Ionising Radiation
* Experience in identifying TRLs and developing technology development plans
Candidate Profile
* Higher Education in Engineering or equivalent
* Membership in a relevant engineering or scientific institution
* Ability to obtain SC security clearance
* Residency in the UK or meeting residency criteria for security clearance
