The role

Job Overview

This fixed‑term (12 months) position is for 2 Healthcare Assistants, Band 2, to join our Evening and Overnight District Nursing Team in Brockworth, Gloucestershire. Working hours are fulltime or part‑time, with primary night shifts from 10:00pm to 8:00am. The role requires regular driving across the county to visit patients in their homes.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and plan routes to visit community nursing patients during out‑of‑hours periods.
  • Prepare, organise, and transport equipment and supplies for the shift.
  • Assist the registered nurse in providing patient care, including manual handling, personal care, and support with cleaning and bedding.
  • Check and maintain stock rotation and track equipment usage using proform data.
  • Perform visual vehicle checks, refuel, log mileage, and report any vehicle issues.
  • Complete the pool vehicle checklist, ensuring all equipment and supplies are available for the shift.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Good general standard of education (GCSE/NVQ Level 2 or equivalent experience).
  • Driving qualification and practical experience driving in a working capacity.
  • Experience working in a healthcare or social care setting, including community work.

Length and Nature of Experience

  • Ability to undertake a range of tasks and follow direction.
  • Ability to work in a caring support role.
  • Flexibility to support the service’s needs, including unsocial hours.
  • Experience with manual handling and patient transfer techniques.
