Overview
This post is designed to provide senior sub-specialty training in paediatric anaesthesia.
Paediatric Intensive Care training will compromise up to a maximum of three months during the 12 month fellowship period. It may be possible to spend part of this time in paediatric retrieval. The posts should attract those wanting to specialise in paediatric anaesthesia at either pre- or post-CCT level, and will provide extensive training and experience in anaesthesia for all paediatric surgical specialties to satisfy the criteria for advanced training in paediatric anaesthesia as detailed in the Royal College of Anaesthetists 2010 curriculum for the CCT in anaesthesia.
There will also be opportunities for clinical research and audit.
There are no National Training Numbers attached. It is anticipated that successful applicants at pre-CCT level should be successful in gaining approval from the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the GMC to count this training towards a CCT; however this will depend on the circumstances of the individual trainees.
Successful applicants will receive the same training, clinical and educational opportunities as those in numbered training posts.
