The Role As an Agile Senior Programme Manager you will drive complex programmes to success, shape how projects are run, mentor and develop PMs, and improve delivery practices and outcomes across the organisation.
Day-to-day, you’ll manage programme teams to deliver on time, to scope, and within budget. You’ll work with stakeholders to maintain clear communication, manage expectations, and resolve issues quickly. Applying Agile and SAFe principles, you’ll drive improvements in delivery practices while mentoring junior PMs to build capability across the team. You’ll also contribute to planning, risk management, and reporting to ensure programmes run smoothly and effectively.
Your responsibilities
* Leading and energising programme teams to deliver high‑impact projects
* Driving Agile and SAFe ways of working to improve efficiency and outcomes
* Building strong stakeholder relationships and proactively resolving issues
* Mentoring and developing junior PMs, growing skills and team capability
* Overseeing planning, risk management, and reporting to keep programmes on track
* Championing continuous improvement to deliver smarter, more effective results
Essential experience
* Leading complex programmes successfully using Agile and SAFe frameworks, with experience of waterfall frameworks beneficial
* Defence experience is highly desirable but not essential
* Building and managing strong stakeholder relationships to drive results
* Delivering projects on time, to scope, and within budget under challenging conditions
Essential qualifications
* Relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification
* PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent project management certification
* SAFe Practitioner or equivalent Agile qualification

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Malvern site. Hybrid working patterns are available. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
The Malvern facility focuses on electronic warfare, surveillance and complex system integration, contributing to the UK’s defence capabilities, including technologies for military and civilian applications such as sensors, communications and cyber security.
