1:1 Teaching Assistant - Year 6 (SEMH Support)
Location: Walsall, WS1
Position Type: Full-Time Term Time Only (Monday to Friday, 8:30AM - 3:30PM)
Start Date: September 2025
Pay Rate: Negotiable (Dependent on Experience)
Contract Type: Long-Term, with potential to become permanent

Prospero Teaching is working with a warm and inclusive primary school in Birmingham to recruit a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 pupil with SEMH. This rewarding role is ideal for someone who can offer both emotional support and consistent academic encouragement, helping the pupil feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.
About the Role:
Provide 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil with SEMH needs
Foster a trusting and supportive relationship that promotes emotional well-being
Support the pupils learning and social development in line with their EHCP
Encourage engagement with learning in a calm and structured way
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals
The Ideal Candidate Will Be:
Previous experience working with children with SEMH or behavioural needs
Nurturing, patient, and empathetic, with a genuine desire to support children with emotional and behavioural needs
Able to remain calm under pressure and respond with kindness and consistency
Passionate about making a positive difference in a child's school experience
A strong communicator and team player, willing to collaborate and adapt
Essential Requirements:
Right to Work in the UK
A valid Enhanced Child Barred List DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one)
Two recent, child-related professional references (covering the last two years)
A strong understanding of trauma-informed and nurture-based practices
