Do you want to make a difference? We are seeking a customer-focused 'people' person to join our team as a Registration Manager based at Scarborough Registration Office. You will line manage a team of registrars delivering a full range of services, including the registration of births and deaths and the delivery of marriage, civil partnership and other non-statutory ceremonies. As part of the Registration Management Team, you will support the Service Manager in the delivery of a range of statutory and elective functions. You will provide effective line management to a team of registrars based at four of our hub locations and will develop a portfolio of projects and specialisms to help lead the service forward. The Registration Service has undergone significant reforms to death registration over the last year, and more changes are to come through statutory legislation. The post holder will require the drive and enthusiasm to deliver this change alongside the new Council’s transformation programme following Local Government Reform. What you will Bring You must have experience of dealing with the public, preferably in a front-line service, with good communication and organisational skills and the ability to deal with clients from all backgrounds, sometimes in difficult situations. Therefore, we welcome applications from candidates who have excellent customer service skills, with an aptitude for dealing with people at some of the most important and emotionally heightened times of their lives. Accurate work, attention to detail, and a high level of computer literacy are crucial. Good public speaking skills and a professional appearance are also essential for this post as is an ability to understand and engage with the legislative framework governing civil registration. We work collaboratively to achieve the highest quality and most cost-effective service in accordance with the Council's policies and statutory requirements. Working Pattern You will work 5 days / 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday) at Scarborough Registration Office with regular travel to Malton, Selby and Whitby. Management meetings and training take place county wide. Therefore, flexibility and access to your own transport is essential. You will be required to contribute to the out of hours rota on weekends and public holidays for which additional payment will be made.
