James Hutton Scientific Services is seeking an enthusiastic Laboratory Support Technician to join our Analytical Chemistry team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about science and hands-on lab work to gain real experience in a laboratory setting. You’ll play a key role in supporting our analytical chemists by helping maintain equipment, preparing reagents, handling samples, and keeping the lab running smoothly and safely. What you’ll do • Help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient laboratory environment. • Prepare reagents, glassware, and chemical standards following set procedures. • Log and store incoming samples, ensuring correct disposal of waste materials. • Monitor and restock lab supplies and consumables. • Support equipment calibration and maintenance. • Carry out general administrative tasks such as record-keeping and document control. • Work collaboratively with scientists and technicians to support ongoing projects. ____________________________________________________________ About you We’re looking for someone who is: • Educated to GCSE/National 5 level (or equivalent) in English, Science, and Maths. • Interested in laboratory work or a career in science. • A team player with good communication and organisational skills. • Detail-oriented, dependable, and eager to learn new skills. • Comfortable following standard procedures and maintaining high safety standards. • Physically able to handle moderate lifting and work on your feet for periods of time. • Familiar with basic lab equipment and IT tools (Microsoft Office, LIMS). ________________________________________ Why join us?
