SWAGGA PCN are seeking an enthusiastic, patient-focused, and independently motivated person to join our existing pharmacy team to provide quality patient care. We want a person with energy and interest to develop the Pharmacy Technician role through collaborative working. The successful candidate will work across the 16 GP Practices in the PCN, with projects ranging from dealing with prescription requests, cost-saving switches to facilitating medication reviews and systems and process improvements. We expect contribution to the medicines optimisation programme acting on best practice models from local and national guidelines. This role will be critical to realising our ambitions to improve patient outcomes in practices, care homes and domiciliary settings. Main duties of the job
 1. Lead improvements to maximise safe, cost effective and best practice in prescribing to improve the quality of patient care.
 2. Be a skilled professional to help patients to get the best from their medicines by switching medications to agreed and approved protocols.
 3. Improve repeat prescribing processes in General Practice, including promotion of repeat dispensing and online ordering.
 4. Minimise clinical risk and aiming to reduce wasted medicines.
 5. Support patients on discharge from hospital, requiring excellent communication skills.
 6. Being a Pharmacy Technician in the PCN will be an evolving job role with huge scope for development as we expand our PCN team further over the years.
 7. Comply with Health & Safety procedures and guidelines.
About us
SWAGGA Primary Care Network is a collaboration of 16 GP Practices geographically aligned and working together to improve patient care. SWAGGA PCN has a weighted patient population of approximately 105,000 patients. It is an extensive Network with a diverse population and patient needs. Our Network Team work across these practices, aiming to improve our patient\'s well-being and address health inequalities in South Liverpool.

This is an exciting time to join SWAGGA PCN. The network has strong foundations and is developing at pace; we are recruiting additional Pharmacy Technicians. SWAGGA is a larger than average PCN with a population of around 100,000 patients across 16 practices.
Main responsibilities
The successful candidate will support the PCN Pharmacy Team to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and efficient systems for repeat prescribing, medicines optimisation, reducing medicines waste and maximising patient outcomes, as well as facilitating structured medication reviews and performing searches and assisting dispensing practices in projects. The role is pivotal to improving the quality of care and operational efficiencies and requires motivation and passion to deliver excellent service provision within general practice.

Person Specification
Qualifications
 * The candidate must be a Pharmacy Technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
 * Academic/vocational qualifications BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent and have a NVQ level.
 * At least three years work experience in hospital or community pharmacy, GP dispensing practice or Clinical Commissioning Group.
 * Significant relevant and ongoing CPD
 * Be enrolled in, undertaking or qualified from, an approved training pathway. For example, the Primary Care Pharmacy Educational Pathway (PCPEP) or Medicines Optimisation in Care Homes (MOCH)
 * Full UK Driving Licence
 * Experience of participation in audits or project management.
 * Experience working with GP Practices and the law related to medicines use
 * An appreciation of drug actions, doses, formulations and interactions for commonly prescribed medications. Familiarity with NICE technology appraisals relevant to primary care
 * Experience of EMIS or previous experience within a comparable role in general practice
 * Good communication skills both written and verbal
 * Ability to recognise and work within bounds of own competence
 * Completed the CPPE Pathway
