Lecturer in Carpentry – Further Education College, Cambridge
Location: Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:30am–5:00pm, Friday 8:30am–4:30pm
Contract: Temporary
Start date: ASAP
Pay rate: £30+ per hour (depending on experience & qualifications)
About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Lecturer in Carpentry to join a respected Further Education college based in Cambridge. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled trades professional or qualified lecturer to share their expertise and support learners to develop valuable practical and theoretical carpentry skills.
You’ll deliver engaging and high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across a range of carpentry courses, helping students to achieve their qualifications and progress in their careers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver carpentry theory and practical sessions to FE learners.
2. Plan and prepare lessons and learning materials in line with the college’s curriculum.
3. Support and assess students’ progress, providing feedback and guidance.
4. Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and achievement.
5. Contribute to creating a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
About You
You’ll be a motivated and skilled professional who is passionate about teaching and developing the next generation of carpenters.
Essential criteria:
6. Minimum Level 2 qualification in Carpentry or Joinery.
7. Teaching experience in an FE or training setting.
8. Excellent communication and organisational skills.
9. Must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
10. Available to start immediately.
Desirable:
11. Teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, CertEd, or equivalent).
12. Level 3 or above qualification in Carpentry.
