Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and innovative Occupational Therapist to help support our Falls Response service for the future. The service runs alongside the Rapid Response and Intermediate Care therapy services.
The Falls Response service support the principles of a 'keeping patients safe in their own home' approach using creative strategies, specialist assessments and bespoke interventions to help patients remain at home and not to attend the acute hospital unnecessarily. We often receive referrals directly from patients, carers or relative where patients have sustained non-injurious falls where the team can assess and assist to prevent further injury and long lays for patients on the floor- These assessments inform a vast array of interventions, including use of the Hoverjack lifting device, which result in excellent outcomes for our patients.
This is a part-time position ( hours per week).

Main duties of the job
1. To ensure the high quality, effective delivery of the Falls Response service.
2. Supporting service development, quality improvement planning, and policy development in the service
3. To be an Occupational Therapist with advanced clinical skills in the management of patients who have fallen or are at risk of falls
4. To be responsible for supporting the delivery of the service, in conjunction with the Band 7 team lead, other senior staff members, as well as the clinical service manager
5. To use highly specialist knowledge and advanced clinical reasoning skills to provide specialist support and advice to the Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy team and other healthcare staff
6. To manage own caseload of patients with complex conditions as an autonomous practitioner
7. Providing support to the Falls Response service to ensure they are able to deliver safe and effective services
8. To keep abreast of new developments generally within Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy, and within the designated area of Falls and older adults.
9. To support quality of services and facilitate implementation of best practice to improve patient experience and outcomes
10. To ensure statutory training is maintained and that there is relevant training for the team, supporting staff to develop their knowledge and skills within their role
11. To use expert knowledge to provide specialist teaching on a wide range of topics to the designated team, students, and other professionals
