About Nuvolt
Nuvolt Ltd delivers renewable energy systems including solar PV, battery storage and EV charging infrastructure. We are seeking qualified electricians to support the installation, commissioning, servicing and maintenance of renewable energy systems across commercial projects.
This is a practical, site-based role working on renewable technology installations. The position involves working independently and as part of a team while liaising with clients and internal colleagues to ensure projects are delivered safely, compliantly and in line with industry regulations and company procedures.
Role Overview
The Renewable Technology Commissioning Engineer is responsible for the inspection, testing, commissioning and performance verification of renewable energy systems.
The role ensures systems are safe, compliant and operating at optimum efficiency before handover to the customer, supporting high technical standards and regulatory compliance.
The position involves gathering accurate information, identifying issues that may impact installation and providing clear documentation to support the design and delivery process. Strong organisational skills and effective communication with clients and internal teams are required, along with the ability to work independently.
The role will involve travelling across multiple regions and may require staying away from home approximately 2–3 nights per week depending on project locations.
Key Responsibilities
* Test and commission renewable energy systems including solar PV, battery storage (BESS), EV charging and heat pump electrical interfaces
* Carry out commissioning in accordance with BS 7671, manufacturer specifications and grid connection requirements
* Perform system energisation and configure inverters, monitoring platforms and control systems
* Verify system safety, functionality and performance through testing and data analysis
* Diagnose commissioning faults and support root-cause analysis
* Complete electrical test certificates, commissioning reports and compliance documentation
* Provide technical support to installation teams and assist with system handover to clients
* Liaise with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) where required
* Follow company safety procedures, risk assessments and method statements
* Work across multiple project sites, maintaining accurate job records and documentation
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
* City & Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
* Inspection & Testing qualification (C&G 2391, 2394/2395 or equivalent)
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
* Solar PV installation and maintenance
* Battery storage systems
* EV charger installation training (e.g. OZEV approved)
* Heat pump electrical integration
Experience
* Experience in testing, commissioning or validation of electrical or energy systems
* Hands‑on commissioning of renewable energy systems such as solar PV, BESS or EV chargers
* Experience working with inverters, protection devices and monitoring systems
* Ability to interpret electrical drawings and technical specifications
* Experience producing technical reports and test documentation
* Familiarity with commissioning procedures and fault finding
* Familiarity with G99 / G100 requirements and DNO processes
* Understanding of renewable energy systems on commercial buildings
