Dudley Council is seeking an outstanding individual to join our senior leadership team as the Associate Director for Business Modernisation. This high-impact, high-profile role is central to the Council's improvement journey, focusing on upholding the highest standards of governance and championing continuous improvement.
This pivotal role will drive Dudley’s comprehensive recovery and transformation programme, supporting our business, workforce and residents. You will play a key part in delivering our new operating model, maximising technology and automation, and cultivating a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement, customer experience and service delivery.
You will drive strategic and operational change, work closely with Directors and Group Directors, and lead business modernisation functions and their associated resources to enhance the effective business operations of the council.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the operational delivery of the Council Improvement Plan and implement the new operating model to improve efficiency, responsiveness, and impact.
* Oversee governance support to elected members, civic leadership and democratic engagement.
* Manage all customer contact points, ensuring technology and automation are maximised while maintaining face‑to‑face support for vulnerable groups.
* Provide oversight of corporate transformation projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and measurable outcomes.
* Drive organisational support, including administrative and executive support, and internal customer service.
* Champion continuous improvement, service redesign and customer‑centric innovation across all functions.
* Lead workforce planning and deployment across business support and transformation functions.
* Establish and maintain governance frameworks, monitor risk, compliance and continuity plans.
* Collaborate with procurement, commissioning and contract management teams to ensure effective outcomes and best value.
* Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards, promote transparency and ethical standards, and participate in corporate resilience and emergency planning.
